Project - Representative from BP - Nicholas Hildyard, The Cornerhouse
BP plans to
use UK tax-payers' money to help fund a highly controversial 1,750
km oil pipeline through Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan. The pipeline
threatens to cause huge social and environmental disruption and
will fuel conflict in an unstable area.
The Baku Ceyhan
Campaign is pleased to welcome two guests from Azerbaijan and Georgia,
coming to the UK as part of a European tour to raise awareness about
the Baku-T'bilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. Manana Kochladze and Mayis Gulaliyev
will participate in a public meeting to discuss the impacts of the
pipeline on their countries - to which we've also invited BP and
AMEC, the two key UK firms involved in the project. Admission is
free but donations to the campaign will be gladly accepted.
