Demonstrate
at Department for International Development
-
to be rebranded as the Department for Corporate Welfare
WHEN? 11.45am, Tuesday 11th November
WHERE? DfID, 1 Palace Street, London (nearest tube Victoria)
Please
come dressed as one of DfID's corporate clients - wear a suit
On Tuesday 4
November, the World Bank (IFC) approved a multi-million dollar loan
for the BTC pipeline project. It did this despite the many problems
and questions still surrounding the human rights and environmental
impacts of the pipeline and despite huge international protests.
Many thanks
for your invaluable support for the campaign. It is vitally important
that the campaign continues - now more than ever as the pipeline
has gained public financing. We need to hold the banks, corporations
and governments involved in this project accountable for their actions.
So please join
us at a peaceful demonstration at the London office of the Department
for International Development (DfID): it was DfID Minister Hilary
Benn's approval that allowed UK participation in the Bank's yes
vote.
JOIN US at 11.45am,
Tuesday 11th November at DFID, 1 Palace Street, London (nearest
tube Victoria) for a 'rebranding' of DFID as
the Department for Corporate Welfare. Please come dressed in a suit,
to represent DFID's corporate clients - we will provide a bowler
hat.
11th November
is also the day that the EBRD will consider providing a loan for
BTC - again we need to pressure Benn not to give the go-ahead a
second time.
If you can't
come to London on that day, please join our action by sending a
fax or email to Hilary Benn. We will email a suggested text to you
on Friday.
PLEASE EMAIL
[email protected] IF YOU ARE
ABLE TO COME TO THE DEMONSTRATION, or if you would like to participate
in the fax action.
Many thanks
for your support.
